Subaru Rally Team USA (SRT USA) returns to the 2011 Rally America National Championship at the season opener Sno*Drift Rally in northern Michigan. The team conducted a successful pre-event test earlier in Michigan ahead of the event with team drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra. Higgins and Mirra each pilot the team’s 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI rally cars prepared by Vermont SportsCar. The Sno*Drift Rally features nearly 130 miles of snow and ice-covered roads in northern Michigan with nearly one third of the miles run at night. Constantly changing weather and road conditions historically make this rally extremely challenging made even more treacherous as Rally America rules prohibit the use of spiked or studded ice tires here placing a premium on road traction. Distinctive looks and great value.

The Mitsubishi Galant stands out in a world full of competent four-door sedans in a couple of ways. From the outside, it has a distinctive look that won’t get lost in a parking lot. And when it comes time to sign the contract and make the monthly payments, the new owner should appreciate the solid value represented by the Galant and its healthy complement of features, all at an attractive price.

The midsize Galant is offered in a range of trim levels, with a four-cylinder or a choice of two V6 engines, a long list of standard equipment and some worthwhile options. It also includes all the expected safety features today’s buyers want. It delivers responsive performance, crisp handling and notable fuel efficiency, in a tidy, yet roomy package.

Last redesigned for the 2004 model year, the Galant was substantially upgraded for 2007. Changes for 2009 are, for the most part, in the areas of upgrades to features and some option packages.

For 2009, the Sport Edition and Sport V6 trim levels have 18-inch alloy wheels and appropriate suspension enhancements. Bluetooth availability has been added, and the navigation system, available on the Ralliart trim level, includes a rear-view backup camera integrated into the display. There is also the availability of remote start.

The French and the Japanese have gotten together to form a magic partnership once already with Carlos Ghosn at the helm. The question is, then, can that success be replicated? PSA Peugeot-Citroën seems to hope so, and it is reportedly on the verge of purchasing a controlling stake (somewhere between 30 and 53 percent, depending on the report) in Mitsubishi Motors.

The total price for the acquisition would cost the European automaker over $3 billion and the deal would also include Mitsubishi acquiring a somewhat smaller stake in PSA Peugeot-Citroën – again, similar to the situation between France’s Renault and Japan’s Nissan.

So, what does Mitsubishi have that Peugeot wants? Three things, apparently: A presence in the States, SUV expertise and, perhaps most importantly, electric vehicle technology. If a deal does indeed take place, the resulting entity would be the sixth largest automaker by sales in the world.

Mitsubishi representatives drove down to Irvine from Cypress with a great zeal to promote this beautiful and brand new model. They dragged along the EVO GSR and the new MR Limited to the line up as well.

This new model has drawn a lot of attention from folks all over the world. Its limited edition colors are eye catching and deserve all the praise. Its Evo-first moonroof is exquisite. So are all the standard work options on it.

The pricing is likely to be a bit over $40,000 for this model. It is a beautiful car with all gorgeous and smooth features. Its large wings would remind you of a detailed Sedan. It is as detailed in its characteristics as well. It tight-lipped features produce a spell over anyone watching it.
