According to L’Automobile, the BMW 750Hi, as it will be called, will be revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt auto show this September. The 750Hi will battle it out with the newly introduced Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid and the Lexus LS600h, which has enjoyed a few-year head start in this arena over its German competitors.

The 750Hi will be equipped with the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 from the 750i, which makes 400 horsepower in the non-hybrid. The mild hybrid will add an electric motor that will add about 20 horsepower, and improve fuel efficiency by as much as 15 percent. The ActiveHybrid concept was also equipped with other EfficientDynamics upgrades, such as regenerative braking and start/stop technology.

BMW could match that output with eight-speed automatic transmission that debuted at the Shanghai auto show in 760i. We’ll have to wait until September to confirm these details – if indeed BMW brings its hybrid to the show.

Hamann is ready to take the latest BMW 7-series to a new level in personalization with its latest refining program. The program offers stainless steel exhaust systems, an aerodynamic body kit, custom wheels in sizes ranging from 19 to 22 inches, and leather interiors tailored exactly to a customer’s individual taste.

The aerodynamic kit aims to functionally enhance the car’s tame exterior. A new front fascia optimizes airflow across the car’s silhouette along with a roof spoiler and a rear spoiler. The spoilers also work to reduce lifting forces at speed. Hamann side skirts are part of the package as well, and serve to visually connect the front and rear of the car. A new rear fascia also complements the kit and it has an available insert for the optional quad-pipe sport exhaust.

Of the custom wheel lineup, Hamann recommends its Design HM EVO wheel in 22 inches. It is finished in gloss black paint and goes best with 265/30ZR22 tires up front, and 295/25ZR22 tires in the rear. Hamann also offers sport springs to lower the car’s center of gravity and give it a dynamic appearance.

One can finish the personalization of their Bavarian flagship with a complete custom interior. Additional options include aluminum pedals and embroidered Hamann floor mats.

If you were expecting some engine tuning bits as well, hang in there. Hamann is likely to release a full lineup of engine tuning accessories to for the 2009 7-series models later this year.
