Leslie Mandoki Produces Audi Motorsport Theme Song »

Just in time for the start of the DTM season, Leslie Mandoki has produced an upbeat new song to accompany Audi Motorsport’s DTM team. As fate would have it, Mandoki, a successful German music producer, also happens to be a big fan of DTM racing.

Mandoki’s song is called “Is There A Dream Left.” He says, “The song is a hymn of praise for the successful Audi drivers and motorsport.” The idea came about when Mandoki was contracted as the music director for the market launch of the Q7 SUV. That project put Mandoki in contact with the DTM scene and gave him the idea to produce a song dedicated to Audi’s racers. Read the rest of this entry »

2011 Audi A8 Confirmed for Fall 2010 Debut »

The last full redesign for the A8 was in 2003, and since then it has received only minor facelifts. In the meantime, we’ve seen the new Mercedes S-class, BMW 7-Series and Lexus LS all debut with substantial upgrades, and the A8 is beginning to show its age.

According to Audi’s chairman, Rupert Stadler, that’s about to change soon. Speaking at the 120th annual meeting of Audi AG, he revealed that the 2011 Audi A8 will go on sale in the U.S. as early as the fall of 2010.

Stadler claims the new A8 will be “the sportiest luxury sedan in its class,” a tall order considering the competition from Mercedes and BMW. He also said the new A8 will “set new standards with regard to interiors. And we will unveil it to the world in a remarkable fashion in late November.” Read the rest of this entry »

Audi RS5 Coupe and Cabrio to get 4.2-Liter V-8, 2011 A8 to Debut Later this Year »

At Audi’s annual investor meeting regarding future products, Chairman Rupert Stadler revealed a few details about upcoming vehicles such as the 2011 A8, RS5 Coupe and Cabrio and the A5 Sportback.

Audi will unveil its redesigned flagship toward the end of the year. The third-generation A8 will continue to use an all-aluminum structure that saves weight compared to a conventional steel design. Audi Q5 Custom Concept Bows at Wörthersee Tour 2009 »

2009 marks the 28th year of the Wörthersee Tour, a meeting of Volkswagen and Audi enthusiasts held annually in Europe. This year marks Audi’s third official appearance, and the automakers is celebrating “100 years of Audi” with a stand featuring everything from production models like the Audi TT RS and R8 5.2 FSI to concept vehicles like the subcompact A1 and Q5 custom.

Audi’s prominent feature at its stand this year is the Q5 custom concept. Created by Audi engineers, the concept features several items from Audi Genuine Accessories. The concept dons a custom Daytona Gray matte finish with red accents on the rims, roof rails, front skirt and rear spoiler, and 21-inch wheels with seven twin-spokes. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Audi Prepping An Electric R8 Concept for the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show? »

While the forthcoming Audi R8 Spyder is no secret, rumor has it that Audi will unveil an electric-powered version of its supercar at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show this fall.

The concept is said to use only electric power, but it could have the capacity to sport a diesel engine as a range-extending generator. Drivers of an electric R8 would miss out on one of the best things about the car: the incredible exhaust note. Other than that, the instantaneous torque of an electric motor could make an electric R8 just as fun as its petrol-powered brethren.
