GM Global Purchasing Group Vice President Bo Andersson Resigns

Joining the parade of executive defections this year that contains product chief and GM celebrity Bob Lutz and Cadillac chief Mark McNabb, GM’s Global Purchasing Group Vice President Bo Andersson claimed that he wants to leave the bankrupt automaker.

“Bo has made tremendous contributions to the development of our global purchasing and supply chain strategy as we’ve globalized our product line portfolios and manufacturing footprint,” said GM CEO Fritz Henderson.

According to a press release issued by GM, Andersson decided to leave the automaker to pursue other opportunities, and his departure is effective immediately.

Andersson joined GM in 1987 as a manager at Saab in Sweden. During his job-life with the world’s former biggest automaker, he also held the positions of GM Europe vice president of purchasing and vice president of Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. He took over as group vice president, the position he leaves behind, in 2007.

GM said that Andersson’s replacement will be announced in the near future.
